Time Tracer path info. General setting information. Elaboration on most of the events is provided in the personality section! _ABILITIES: NASOD DYNAMO: The Nasod Dynamo is a strangely-shaped, unique weapon Add built back during his long stay in the ancient library. It splits into six, identical parts, all of them following their master wherever he goes – they form into a neat shape behind his back, and never leave his side. Time Tracer’s dynamo has been equipped with specific materials that allow it to alter time and space. It’s a lethal, deadly weapon that – despite its appearance – is not used for any sort of physical attacks (at least in Time Tracer’s case). Rather, Add uses it to channel magical power, to carry out various tasks (such as solving difficult problems and completing calculations), or even to float (when his dynamo is unactivated, he stands on top of it; when his dynamo is activated, he levitates a few inches above the ground). He’s capable of controlling it with both his hand motions and his voice – the dynamo itself doesn’t have an independent AI, but it recognizes all sorts of voice commands, varying from simple orders such as ‘cooling system activate’ to ‘eliminate.’ELECTRICITY: His base power, one that Add has used even before discovering the ability to manipulate time and space, is redirecting and creating electrical charges. Most of the time, he uses the dynamo to channel this skill. Combined with the mechanized weapon, he can create powerful cannons, various electrical blasts, piercing electric bullets, or particle prisms. Due to the homing nature of some of these attacks, it’s also assumed that these skills utilize magnetism. One of the most notable skills that fall under this category is EMP shock, as the electromagnetic pulse damages and shuts down everything in the attack’s range. Electricity-based skills, however, become mostly irrelevant upon Time Tracer’s job change – they're pushed aside and only ever used as support, and he doesn’t evolve or polish them any further.SPATIOTEMPORAL DISTORTION: This is an ability exclusive to the Time Tracer path. Upon modifying the dynamo and completing certain calculations, Add has gained the power to manipulate both time and space. The power, of course, has certain limitations, and it’s just as strong as it is unstable; at this point in his canon, he doesn’t have full control over it yet. Thanks to the dynamo, he can tear the space where his targets are located (thus either damaging or tearing them apart), summon various spatiotemporal bodies to home in on enemies, create void fields to restrain his foes and, among other things, access a few utility skills that help him out in battle.SPACE CRACKS - The most basic of Add’s abilities. He can open and close spatial portals that allow him to teleport and quickly move from place to place. There’s a certain risk to it, just as with everything else – he’s not positive whether there is a weight or a size limit as to how many people / how big of a person can be transported, and to create a portal, he must know where exactly it's supposed to go, unless he's willing to risk getting completely lost within space. Nevertheless, he mostly uses this ability for his own merit, and sometimes to simply annoy other people.SEAL OF TIME - While at this point, Add can’t freely jump through time (he’s not yet in a possession of an energy source that could withhold such strain, and most of his calculations aren’t accurate enough to try), this particular way of controlling time allows him immortality. He can seal himself within a certain time of his choosing (most often right before death), and upon dying, he will be revived in the same state as he was in during the sealing process. The ability will transfer all wounds, all physical strain, as well as his fatigue upon the revival, depending on the state his body has been in when sealed. Another way to use this is saving his allies – the ability can affect people in his close proximity, granted that he wants them to be affected. Just like Add, they will resurrect as soon as they let out their last breath.STRENGTHS: His biggest strength, given all the abilities he possesses, is without a doubt the damage he can dish out to his enemies – he’s focused on the offensive, possessing high magical power and a mindset that doesn’t stop him from killing indiscriminately. At the same time, he’s extremely mobile – fast, capable of teleporting as well as hovering above the ground, and thanks to the dynamo, he is able to jump far higher than any human could – which also allows him to glide through the air on short distances. Other notable strength is his longevity -- as in, the ability to repel death. Virtually, he’s unkillable, as long as the seal is in effect.WEAKNESSES: While his magical power is high, he has no physical strength to his name. In close combat, he’s hopeless; and, just as he is weak, he is vulnerable, as his physical defense stat is extremely low. That also means the amount of his hit points is laughable, and he dies pretty easily – hence the need for the seal of time. Realistically speaking, he can barely take a punch, as his frame is thin and his bones snap easily; the same goes for all other physical attacks, which are the easiest way to defeat him. Separating him from his dynamo is also a way to go – without the weapon to channel the magic thrumming beneath his fingertips, he’s once again defenseless, and just about your average human being.![]() _PERSONALITY: At first glance, there’s nothing more to Add than sheer arrogance and a certain, unpleasant vibe echoing in his voice. Not many people are willing to give him a chance, or guess that there’s more beneath the surface than there appears to be – he dismisses human contact, anyway, uninterested in forging any sort of bonds, unless it’s for his own benefit. That type of attitude was forcibly thrusted onto him back in his childhood; the source of distrust and disgust towards humanity as a whole begins to settle in his stomach long before he’s fully grown and capable of making decisions by himself. Born to a pair of famous Nasod researchers (Nasods being a sentient, intelligent race of androids in the Elsword universe), both of his parents kept secrets better left unspoken. The Nasod race has never been merciful – as soon as they discovered the threat humanity imposed on them, as well as on itself, by analyzing the codes on which the androids functioned, they set out to destroy any possible evidence – which included killing both of Add’s parents in front of the young boy (he remembers, clearly, how his mother screamed, begging for mercy – swears to himself, then, that he’ll never abandon enough pride to do the same.) Him, they found valuable enough to keep; he’s been sold to slave-traders, kept behind bars, and forced to work for people who have never treated him with any sort of respect. All of that has left him understandably scarred; he’s hesitant to trust anyone, as well as work under anyone but himself, never once accepting an order. Everything he does, he does for his own merit and behalf, even as much as helping other people leaves a bad taste in his mouth. Besides himself, there’s only one other person he’s willing to sacrifice everything for – his mother. And though his mother rests long dead, Add still carries the love he had for her locked in his heart securely, allowing it to fester and corrupt his mind. His escape is swift and sudden, planned by himself and carried out alone – he doesn’t free any of the other slaves on his way (though he does, involuntarily, provide distraction for them to run). Chased after, his feet carry him towards a hole in the ground. It collapses beneath the weight of his body, just barely holding on, and provides him with something that proves to be both a blessing and a curse – a place to hide, which simultaneously becomes his prison. It’s an ancient library, holding all of the secrets of Nasods the androids fought so hard to protect – with a huge stash of canned food and most necessities a child would need to survive. He spends his next ten years in complete solitude, studying technology and slowly planning how to escape. Needless to say, due to his complete isolation from the world, he’s not very good at human interaction – he has no experience when it comes to making friends, forming closer bonds, or even as much as talking to people. Because of his bad experiences with humans prior to his fall, he assumes everyone is an enemy, and treats them as such until proven otherwise – it takes a lot of time for him to warm up, and a lot of effort to coax him into letting his guard down, if only a little. In the other hand, the effort might just be worth it; he’s one of the most brilliant minds, having inherited his parents’ ingenuity, as well as a strong ally, though his loyalty and dedication to a cause that isn’t his own are questionable at best. He carries on his family’s legacy proudly – nasods become his obsession, the turning point in his life, the key to leaving the library and starting anew. With his studies consuming every second of his waking hours, it takes him years to create his ultimate weapon – the nasod dynamo, made from leftover parts of various androids left in the ancient library. It’s strong enough for him to escape, however, due to the library’s position – a place outside of time and space, ss soon as he leaves, he’s thrown a long time into the future, on the brink of complete nasod extinction. This is where his path splits from the other two job choices; whereas his counterparts continue to research nasods, as well as follow the nasod queen who somehow managed to survive the war, Add decides that all he wants is to return to the past and save his mother from the cruel fate that befell her. Regardless of how much time passed, and how hopeless the wish seems to be, that’s all he can think about – it’s the reason he decides to look into time travel and space control rather than improvement of the nasod technology he managed to build. It’s also where his insanity progresses; while his mental stability has been questionable, strained by the years he’d spent alone and isolated from the outside world, the more he longs to rewrite his fate, the more detached from reality he becomes. To say that Add is stuck in the past would be an understatement – he’s incapable of seeing himself anywhere but by his mother’s side, in a happy home, in a timeline where the tragedy never happened. He’s ready to go to ridiculous lengths to achieve said goal, such as stealing secret technology from Alteranian creatures to modify the dynamo and be able to control space and time, and beginning calculations that’d help him find the universe he came from (he’s perfectly aware that there are millions – if not billions – of universes, and even though the task seems impossible at best, he still hopelessly tries to accomplish it). His devotion and dedication can be admirable – he’s not one to give up, nor change his mind once it’s set, regardless of how improbable success is. Sadly, most of that ambition affects him negatively; oftentimes, he overworks himself, forgets to eat and – most importantly – forgets that despite everything he has accomplished, he’s still human, bound by basic human limitations. A deranged mind and a complete lack of social experience turn him into an awkward, often rude person, who – despite his harsh words – genuinely tries his best to understand the world he’s been thrown in. Out of his own loneliness, he can sometimes be caught talking to his dynamo; it’s a constant habit, and even though the weapon does not possess an AI or any way to communicate back (though it does respond to direct voice commands, following orders diligently), he still speaks to it as if he expects it to respond. He has a tendency to call people names – though, most of his insults prove to be rather childish, varying from ‘idiot’ to 'weakling’ and the like; he rarely curses, though it does slip from time to time, mostly when under pressure or when annoyed. Regardless of how mean and unapproachable he might seem to be, he’s not entirely merciless – demonstrated when he spared Lord Wally, even though the aforementioned had betrayed him just a few events prior. ( "Lord Wally, our contract is over! I'm sparing your life, considering the past we went through. This is your chance! I'll remove the line, so try to escape." ) Most of the emotion that he displays – both the good and the bad aspects of his personality – was learned from other people. After being thrown into the future, he works alone for the longest time, in desperate attempts to obtain the power to manipulate time. Fate lets him cross paths with the El Search Party only later in the story – he saves Eve, a Nasod Queen, from a monster onslaught, and earns himself a spot among the heroes attempting to restore the lost power of the El Crystal. Other than his mother, they’re his most significant comrades, and the people who end up influencing him the most – and, while he claims to hate or at least dislike most of them, he observes them carefully in order to learn. The fate of the world doesn’t concern him nearly as much as it does them, however; in the end, he never tries to lie to them, always reminding everyone that his compliance will last only as long as they’re profitable to him. He defeats the demons not in hopes of saving the world, but in hopes of obtaining information; research is an important part of his life, and he takes interest in anything unusual and out of ordinary. Naturally, all android and robot-related things take priority – as well as other time manipulators, as he’s constantly seeking to upgrade his own technology. Yet, he’s been seen researching foreign sources of energy, ancient magic, and anything else that could be of use in the future, or could be incorporated into the system of his dynamo. Once intrigued by something (or someone), he will pursue it to no end; if it’s a person, he’ll disregard any sort of personal space, as well as their comfort, quickly spiraling into obsession and stalker-ish tendencies. Down at his core, he’s a scientist, just like his parents – his curiosity about the world surrounding him knows no bounds, and he’s known to disregard both his own safety and the safety of those around him in order to obtain precious samples or pieces of information he thinks he might need. An example of that is him stealing an important material from Ponggos, a well-equipped, technology-oriented race located in one of the cities left over from the ancient Nasods. The material itself allowed Add to finally obtain time-controlling powers and begin his quest to return to his past and save his mother, which would prevent the tragedy and allow him to live a peaceful life. Given his personality and his aggressive demeanor, it seems almost absurd for him to long for peace – yet, no matter how many people he kills, no matter how many demons he defeats, no matter how much power he obtains, all he wants is the tranquility of his childhood; the warm embrace of his mother, and the safety that their house provided. Regardless of how hopeless his quest is, and how he sets himself up for failure every time he tries to run the correct calculations, it’s not something that he’s willing to give up on, ever – it’s a constant priority, more important than research or his life itself. He doesn’t accept failure, nor does he accept defeat (in cases of him losing a fight, he calls himself pathetic and falls to his knees in despair); and, unfortunately, no matter how much the El Search Party might’ve changed his life, he’s still willing to give them all up in order to obtain what he needs, or to escape safely. ( "I sense an enormous energy source from nearby. I foresee a major predicament to happen... well, it's not like it's my business." ) He’s brash and quick to both act (though too smart to ever find himself in a predicament he cannot solve) and anger; yet, due to spending most of his life alone, he holds a few childlike traits, which come as a surprise for most of his acquaintances. For example, he’s afraid of ghosts, as well as everything that cannot be explained by science – though he’s in deep denial about it. He enjoys sweets (especially chocolate and cookies) and darkness, as it makes him feel calm; he’s also a huge clean freak, often whining about how much he hates getting dirty. Despite of the certain naiveté that hides beneath his words, he’s responsible and often sees the tasks he starts to the end; however, he cannot be called reliable, as trusting him is generally a mistake (he betrays people without a second thought, as long as the betrayal is profitable to him.) Upon needing help, he demands for it, rather than asks for it; he’s abrasive, and when interacting with other people, rarely ever is he concerned about their personal feelings on certain matters, nor whether his words might potentially hurt them. And yet, his hatred is nowhere as strong as his love is – he loves madly, hopelessly and obsessively, with the entirety of his being. There’s a deep self-loathing lurking beneath his arrogance, as he absolutely despises himself for being powerless and too weak to save his mother, but the drive to fix his own mistakes allows him to put that aside, if only when things go according to his plan. He has a tendency to carry his grudges with him forever (he still hates Elsword, the protagonist and the leader of the El Search Party, for destroying the Altera Core), and gets in a lot of petty arguments, if only because of his hot-blooded temperament. Still, if he likes someone, he shows it in his own, awkwardly roundabout way; sometimes, all it involves are demands and constant bothering, and sometimes, his fondness is a dangerous affection that can potentially hurt or kill. The relationships that he holds with the rest of the El Search party are complicated, at best. At heart, he’s a loner – or at least, that’s what he’s used to, so being in a group of people has been a shock for him (hence, most of his dislike towards them). Elsword, he finds annoying; ever since the boy meddled with his plans, Add doesn’t think of him as much more than a musclehead and an idiot, stating it on multiple occasions. ( "Stupid. Even his head is filled with muscle. Unpleasant!" ) Still, the boy is undoubtedly the kind of a hero Add holds secret admiration for – he has read about various, chivalrious knights in the books of the ancient library, only dreaming that someday he’d be able to meet one himself. Sadly, expressing emotion isn’t his forte; instead of admitting any sort of fondness, he pushes the boy around, denying his help whenever possible. That, and there’s something undeniably fascinating about someone who can uphold their beliefs even through times of crisis – as Add learns human behavior from observation, watching Elsword struggle through the times of despair has been a show worth his time, to say at the very least. Aisha and Ara, he treats like he would treat children – according to him, they’re both airheaded and clumsy, though he senses there’s more behind Ara than there seems to be. Forging meaningful relationships with girls has been a struggle for him, however; he’s awkward with words, and can barely muster up basic kindness (according to Rena, he’s cute when he cannot say 'thanks.’) Both the elven woman and Elesis – Elsword’s other sister – he holds in a higher regard, however. He describes Rena as cleaner and kinder than the rest, which wins her his favor, while Elesis is the one he’d like to fight the least, which means he recognizes and respects her strength and courage. His most important relationship, and one that largely affects his behavior, is with Eve, the nasod queen who – thanks to hibernation – managed to survive. She’s one of the last androids alive, and needless to say, Add takes a great interest in her; mostly because of research purposes. It starts off as malicious, as he wants nothing more but to dismantle her and steal the nasod codes from her core; eventually, after months of following after her (stalking, really) he warms up enough to save her from peril and earn himself a spot among the young adventurers. To say that he’s obsessed wouldn’t be an understatement – his eyes are glued to her all the time, and he observes her every move with unrelenting fascination, curious about the inner workings of the system ingrained within her. Similarly, he’s interested in Raven – who isn’t a nasod, but possesses a nasod arm, thanks to a surgery he undertook. The rest of the party, he treats more like extras; thinks of Chung as a cute lab rat, and doesn’t get along with Lu at all, calling her a small brat. Ciel has won himself Add’s favor by baking him sweets – though Add has an ugly, childish tendency to steal everything and leave nothing for other adventurers. He joins the El Search Party permanently after becoming the Time Tracer, putting aside his nasod dynamo-centered research for the sake of learning more about time and space. There’s a vast difference in motives between the Time Tracer path and the two other paths: most importantly, the way they fight, but also their motivations, ambitions and the way they go about reaching them. Time Tracer’s exclusive motivation is going back in time and saving his parents through preventing the tragedy, whereas the other two paths focus on the future, as well as their nasod research. In this way, the Time Tracer path is the most corrupted, disturbed one – mostly because his wish is hopeless and virtually impossible to fulfill – and Add’s insanity becomes more prominient as he progresses further towards becoming Diabolic Esper. That, however, doesn’t really pertain to him, as he’s taken from the beginning of the Time Tracer path, and his character development (as well as his mental instability) depends solely on the events of Tanagura.
